Life at Ahn's Tae Kwon Do
The Moo Duk Kwan Tradition
Moo Duk Kwan is a martial art organization founded by Hwang Kee in Korea in 1945. It emerged as the largest of the five major kwans (schools) and laid the foundation for modern Taekwondo. Ahn's Tae Kwon Do follows this authentic lineage, preserving the traditional forms and values passed down through generations of dedicated practitioners.
The Moo Duk Kwan philosophy emphasizes the unity of the individual — developing spirit, mind, and body together. Under Master Ahn's guidance, students learn not just techniques but the deeper meaning of the martial arts: self-improvement, respect for others, and service to the community.
Kukkiwon Certification
Kukkiwon (국기원) is the official governing organization of Taekwondo, sanctioned by the South Korean government. As the World Taekwondo Headquarters, Kukkiwon issues globally recognized Black Belt certifications that are the international standard for Taekwondo rank.
Ahn's Tae Kwon Do students who achieve their Black Belt receive official Kukkiwon certification — a credential recognized by martial arts organizations worldwide. This certification is a testament to the quality and authenticity of the training at our school.
“Discipline, Respect, Excellence — Since 1989.”

The Educational Value of Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do training has great potential to change a person physically, psychologically and emotionally, in a very positive way. For children, it builds confidence, athletic ability, and discipline. For adults, it offers stress relief, improved fitness, and practical self-defense skills.
Increased strength, improved coordination, and mastery of a new skill all lead to an improved self-image. Every instructor has seen students improve their grades, find better habits, and dramatically change themselves because of Taekwondo.
The training develops not just physical skill, but character and confidence that lasts a lifetime. Students learn discipline, respect, perseverance, and self-control — qualities that serve them in every area of life.
